Going To Trial Without a Lawyer in Houston is Suicide

Some Houston criminal defendants do the unthinkable, attempt to represent themselves in criminal courts at law. The idea is laden with insanity with a touch of irresponsibility.

Representing yourself as your own counsel on a misdemeanor criminal offense is one thing, but try it with a felony criminal case and you are likely going to be minced in the face of even a novice Harris County, TX prosecuting attorney.

Knowing How To Handle The Courtroom

Knowing and understanding criminal law, and how the criminal courts operate, is a value in its own right.

If you aren’t going to go to trial, and represent yourself in criminal court, the least you can do is hire a Houston criminal defense attorney for consultation purposes.

There will still be a legal bill, but it won’t be as much if you hired the criminal defense attorney to represent you on the case full time.

It would be more like a legal aide/criminal law tutor in a way.

One thing is for sure, hiring a criminal defense attorney as a consultant beats trying to represent yourself in the court of law without any knowledgeable assistance.

Hiring The Right Attorney in Houston, TX

There’s no quick and easy way to find a top notch Houston criminal defense lawyer that will consult in your corner on a criminal trial if you’ve refused to hire them and pay them their retainer to fight on your behalf full time.

Some attorneys have that bravado swagger about themselves and may feel disrespecting if you waltz into their criminal defense law firm with talk of not hiring them as your criminal defense lawyer, but as a consultant.

However, with some work, a lot of effort, and a bit of asking around, and no doubt you will find a reputable criminal justice attorney to help you fight your criminal charges.
