In Texas, Possession of a Controlled Substance is a serious crime that’s defined as the defendant being found in possession of any kind of drug that is illegal to distribute and to consume.
Depending on the drug, and the amount of the drug, this can result in a lengthy prison sentence if found guilty. Drug related felony charges have resulted in a large number of people being jailed over the years.
This reality is one that won’t be changing anytime soon.
A number of different illegal substance can be defined as a “controlled substance”. We’re talking prescription drugs on down to cocaine and heroin.
